The Walter Johnson High School golf team prevailed over Wootton in a one-hole playoff after the two teams tied through 18 holes at the Montgomery County District Championship Tournament at Poolesville Golf Course on Monday.
The two teams had also finished the regular season tied along with Whitman atop the Yachmetz division standings with identical records of 13-4-1. Walter Johnson was awarded the division title by virtue of a lower scoring average.
The top eight teams from Monday’s action will compete in the State Championship Tournament at the University of Maryland later this month.
Nathan Tenpas of Bethesda-Chevy Chase had the lowest individual score Monday with an even-par 71.
